Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of all reception staff and associated functions.

This role is based in Marlow, but will be required to travel to Lane End occasionally.


  • To support the Team Supervisor/ Reception Manager
  • Open and close surgery
  • Work through email inbox
  • Provide motivation to team members
  • Feedback to staff
  • Be a point of contact for team members
  • Provides quality customer service, including interacting with patients, answering patient enquiries
  • Identify training needs and feedback to the Team Supervisor/ Reception Manager
  • Induction and training of all new staff to agreed standards
  • Liaise with other members of the primary health care team
  • Deal with more complex enquiries from patients
  • Continually assess and evaluate systems, recommending changes and improvements to the Team Manager as appropriate
  • Liaise with medical representatives as required
  • Have a clear understanding of telephone systems, daytime and out of hours
  • Deal with general telephone enquiries from patients and general public
  • Have a full understanding of the appointment system
  • Record requests for home visits
  • Make appointments for patients
  • Record messages for doctor, nurse and administrative staff

Skills and experience;

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of leading and motivating a team
  • Empathetic nature
  • Previous experience of working in a Medical Reception
  • Previous knowledge of using EMIS, Docman, Accurx  and knowledge of Klinik is an advantage
  • Organised, hardworking and focussed
